Baikal · ice season 2027
Baikal ice tour 2027
The Baikal ice season runs from January to March: clear ice of Maloe More, hummocks, ice splashes and grottoes. We travel in small groups and move on the ice by hovercraft — you see far more in a day than from the shore.

Key points
What to check before booking
For long trips, not only locations matter but also the order of days, transfers, accommodation, meals and a weather buffer.
How a day on the ice works
Departure from Irkutsk in the morning, by noon — the ice of Maloe More. Then a route over the ice by hovercraft: hummocks, grottoes, viewpoints and photo stops. In the evening we return to the hotel or the city, depending on the program.
When the ice is best
January is ice formation: clean transparent fields and little snow. February offers the most stable ice and the most clear days. March brings sun, ice splashes and milder weather, though towards the end of the month departures may be limited.
What we clarify before payment
Ice conditions for your dates, availability, program content, transfer, accommodation and weather buffer. If the ice does not allow a safe route, we tell you honestly in advance and offer an alternative.
Questions
What to clarify before requesting
Answers to the questions people usually ask before booking.
When does the ice season on Baikal start?
First stable departures run from early January. The most stable ice and predictable weather are in February and the first half of March. Exact dates depend on the year, so we check the ice before each group.
What is a hovercraft and is it safe?
A hovercraft travels over ice and water. Departures depend on ice thickness and weather; the route decision is made by the team on site. All movement is only on verified sections.
How much does an ice tour cost?
«Baikal ICE» — 4 days / 3 nights, 88,900 RUB per guest, 13 January-March departures. «Two Shores in Winter» — 6 days / 5 nights, 145,000 RUB. One-day routes — from 8,500 RUB.
Can we come with children?
Yes, ice routes are usually well tolerated by school-age children. We clarify the children's ages in advance and choose a comfortable pace with stops.
